Culled from Mux Mool’s EPs, mixtapes, and beat vaults, the Viking Funeral EP collects five choice Mux cuts into one concentrated blast of music, an introduction to Brian Lindgren’s dazzling take on homespun electro hip-hop and a preamble to his upcoming full-length opus, Skulltaste.
The Pixelord is Alexey Devyanin. He's a Moscow-based veteran of experimental music, best-known for his Gultskra Artikler moniker. His debut four-track EP "Lucid Freaks" brings forth a mixture of spliffed-out 8bit riddims, stumbling Hip Hop beats and a pinch of Euro Dance glam. However unique, the weirdo plastic Pop of Glasgow's Hudson Mohawke is echoed in his tunes as well as bass-driven digital Reggae, Jahtari-style.
Akira Kiteshi has much more in him than we all thought. Here is a free new mini-album of tape loops using exclusively jazz vinyl, synths and weird tape phenomena.
Seriously though, this is real quality stuff. Excellent production by Benamin, and Fresh kills it with the flow n lyrical goodies. Big stuff from both of em' in 2010, that's for sureeeee.

Definitely been sleeeeeeping on this dude. Caught him randomly on myspace to find a short stack of truly breathtaking tracks. Joints on the myspace player are some super smooth dance-floor bangers in line with producers like Floating Points and Martyn. Amazing sounds, really. Check out his page here, download a free beat tape he put out in 2008 HERE, and definitely keep an eye and two ears out for Eliphino this year.
TIGHT new mix by Illum Sphere for FACT magazine. 15 minutes long, with 14 original productions. Hypnotic drums and synthesizers drip off the ceiling and float back up via anti-gravity before exploding into dimly lit confetti rainbows... which are constantly melting and re-solidifying. S1 (Symbolyc One) really is one of the most underrated producers in hip-hop today. He helped create the sounds behind the Strange Fruit Project's first few albums, a group relatively slept on in their own right. But it's his beats that shine on that record and continue to shine everywhere else they end up.

The duo out of Wolverhampton may only have two official remixes to their name, the excellent reshaping of Bibio's "Lovers' Carvings" and Machinedrum's "Late Night Operation", but they've managed to make a scene shaking impression. Today the world lost a lot of soul. Teddy was one of the original crooners, cranking out dancefloor heaters and bedroom lullabies throughout the 70s as a part of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes (where heand not Harold Melvin was the lead singer) and later on as a solo act in the late 70s and early 80s. In his honor, put on one of his records, dim the lights, and spend the night caressing your special someone. Teddy would have wanted it that way.
Originally part of the heavy glitch/IDM scene, demos and clips surfaced around 2007 that showed that Travis was transitioning into a more upbeat, pop oriented style of production. When this finally dropped it did not disappoint. Full of vibrant, colorful melodic music; he has definitely created a unique sound for himself. Great collaborations.
Definitely a band worthy of the hype. Incredibly talented musicians, songwriters, and producers who create beautiful, melancholic music to drift to. Also great live.
Also watch out for Shlohmoshun DELUXE coming JANUARY 12th (10 DAYS), with remixes from Tokimonsta, Low Limit, Devonwho and Fulgeance. It's gonna be lava.
One of the more surprising releases of 2009 given his previous output. He has been known for his hazy, tape drenched guitar acoustics, but this album is all over the place, spanning psych, hip-hop, folk, IDM and more. Some may say it's unEVEN, we call it unBELIEVABLE.
Beautifully detailed music. Every track begins slowly, with a simple, subdued intro that eventually fills the bucket with so much red wine that it spills over onto your brain and STAINS IT. It STAINS YOUR BRAIN. and it's like a gigantic comfy pillow.
One of the most highly anticipated albums of 2009, and for good reason. Ever since hearing his Heeters beat tape from a while back, we've all been blown away by hudson's chops ss sp osc s ops k. Butter takes all of the glittery cartoon synths, wacked out drum patterns and butchered vocals and ups it a notch further. Complete ADD shit and we love it. The only album that made all of our top 10 lists over here.
