After some post-office troubles with getting this record from point A (Tokyo) to point B (Montreal), Ichiro's "Nerima Experiment" finally arrived today! Ten beautifully stitched-up, glitched-down, synthed-around stutterjazz beats, with two remixes by mgr and fad art disposition. Love the artwork too.

Big Gigantic: Fire It Up

You can tell McCronnellman has been sleeping when its taken me this long to put up the FREE, debut LP from Dom Lalli, AKA Big Gigantic, that upper echelon purveyor of "that COLORADO sound." Though the live drums that so often define "that...sound" are absent on "Fire It Up," make absolutely no mistake: this whole thing thumps. To quote Paul Jones, "I want to put this BG record on at a party!" True indeed. Lalli, who is also in the live band the Motet, is an excellent composer, and all of these songs have like 10 different tracks going at once. And they're definitely SONGS; no beat tape nonsense in here, just some colorful, really fun, really hype tracks to make em say unnhhh. Keep an eye out for BG on tour this summer and the fall.
