Mix For The Cruelest Month

YES! My buddy Zach (1/2 of the Brooklyn based dream-beat party band band Bluejay) hit me up with this wonderful micro-mix; full of tunes to lead us from April showers into May flowers, n' beyond to full on summertime sunshine.

He says: "This mix was for April. A famous writer called out April for being the mean and I tend to agree. I thought that Man Jumping, Wendy & Lisa, Mtume, Steve Winwood, Cap'n Jazz, Todd Terry, Corina, Funboy Three, Fred Frith, Windjammer, and Michael (R.I.P.) would give us something to look forward to as summer's space craft crash lands on the beach.

Catch Bluejay live on May 7th at Shea Stadium.

Young Montana!!???

YES. this dude's music is an expression of everything that has ever been right in electronic music. He just had a guest mix on Mary Anne Hobbes last week and is seriously about to explode from the UK outwards. Get in touch with his myspace HERE and download (!!!) some BIG brain melters from his Soundcloud. There isn't really a word for how futuristic this sound is.

Smooth Jamz #8

I've come to bless you with more of the smooth.

Its got that crazy SWING! don't hate on the smooth! I'll waltz to this shit all day.

Wally Badarou - Waltz

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti

Y'all NEED NEED NEED to cop this album when it drops June 8th. If you've listened to his previous albums, you know he's got a great song writing gift, although its usually drenched in muffled tape fuzz (which is part of the intimate appeal). He's cleaned up a bit for this release however, and it contains some of the best pop songs I've heard in ages, hooks for days, especially on this tune in particular.

Here's another gem. All these other "lo-fi" dudes need to step their game up!

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffitti - Fright Night (Nevermore)

If you are feeling tracks these be sure to support @ 4AD when it's released.

LAZER SWORD - SHOT IN THE NITE by LAZER SWORD

"hooky 80s slow burner"...probably the biggest tune out now if you ask me.

Cop the 7" or mp3s with Koopa Boss Mode B-Side over at Stones Throw.

L-L-L-LEXX

This is a long overdue post for me because I've been listening to LEXX's tripped out bangers for a minute now (we even put a couple in our Brooklynite Gallery Mix) but I'm not sure if you have been...in which case I present him to you now.

He's part of the same Wigflip fam from Baltimore which also boasts Semya, Run DMT & more, so you know from his company alone its quality. He boasts a more beat heavy sound however, layering synthetic beeps, bloops, n phat basslines with crunchy drums & killer samples. Basically beats for the Gusher snackin', Snick watchin', Nintendo generation.

Do yourself a favor and download his MANGOBLUNT EP & SLIME TIME beattape. And stay tuned for HOOPS!!!!!!

KUHN @ LINKS Soundclash/BASSIC

This ain't a hobby; it's a verdict.

Raddddical night of original dubstep tunes from ten Boston-area producers/DJs @ LINKS Soundclash, hosted by BASSIC. "This is your city," was the tag, and that pretty much sums it up... non-stop talent, non-stop vibes, beautiful people! Peep the video above... 'Rear Window' into a yet untitled banger I finished the night before & then some unreleased S&G shit smooth as it is low.

LINKS put together an ill compilation CD, which I ripped and posted on Mediafire for you out of towners.

It's got 'We're Gonna Make It' off my Spacemusik EP, but my favorites are the tunes by Skunk, DJ Vous, Prism and Dabu, who is the mastermind behind LINKS... I wanna big up him and the rest of the BASSIC crew for all the work they put into it.

It's refreshing to hear what kind of low end your next-door neighbors are toting without the walls in between. :)
