Reso-Live at Fuzz 4/09

To me, one of the coolest parts of the whole dubstep thing is the degree of subtlety a lot of these producers are working into their mixes. For a lot of tunes, you need to listen 3 or 4 times to appreciate all the layers in the mix, and it can be really rewarding when you find some hidden sample or random sound.

The other cool thing is that, within the same genre, people like Reso are making the most brutally fierce, crushing music, demanding your headphones to be encased in a helmet of some kind. I mean, jesus, this mix is FIERCE. Techy dubstep with moar wobble than a broken one of those sketchy hotel beds that you put a quarter in, gigantic drops, and some HEADY samples (the first track, which is an unreleased demo, samples the noise that Transformers make when they transform), Reso fills out this mix of his own material (a lot of it unreleased) with venerable tracks from Caspa, Rusko, Starkey, and Benny Page and some evil drum'n'bass for those brave enough to stick around 'til the end. Big mix, cop it. Boh.

And btw, this isn't the flier from this gig, but I would've been remiss if I didn't broadcast this fucking awesome image as often as possible.
