Yung Gunnaz
first is the boy Cedaa fresh out da cedaa forests of Bellingham, WA (not sure if there are cedar forests there but I like to imagine there are). dudes been bubblin' as of late with some real dope remixes in his unique fusion of juke, bass, crunk & funky music. plus he looks like dan casey, a good friend of the blog.
this remix in particular is drivin me mad (u know i'm crazy for those r&b vox ;) )
Clicks & Whistles - When I Feel (Cedaa Remix) (via XLR8R)
and a couple from his soundcloud available 4 DL:
Magique (Demo) by Cedaa
Are You That Somebody (Cedaa Remix) by Cedaa
(my personal favorite remix of this track i've heard, keeps the original vibe but addin' that SuuUUuUB)
Next on the list is this dude Jamie from the XX, a band of some young lads and a ladette I kinda meant to pay more attention to but never really got around to it. never expected one of em to have productions chops like this though! he's got a slew of official remixes out & is slated to do this crazy remix/collabroation with none other than the great Gil Scott Heron.
first track that really caught my attention is this bonkers nosaj thing remix:
Nosaj Thing - Fog (Jamie xx Remix)
Here's one off the Gil Scott Heron joint:

Quiet Nights Drops Next Week!!
November 25, 2010 (BROOKLYN, NY) - Flagship Brooklyn beat collective Astro Nautico’s latest effort ‘Quiet Nights EP’ is a kaleidoscopic journey from the heart of Brazilian jazz to the outer limits of experimental hip-hop and bass.
Featuring tracks by all three Astro Nautico artists (Kuhn, Obey City, +weed) and guest spots from both sides of the Atlantic (Young Montana?, Termeric, InfinitiRock, Thirsty Jefferson), this compilation album is tied together by the common departing point for each artist’s version: Brazilian jazz classic ‘Corcovado’ as performed by Stan Getz.
Phasing tape hiss, crunchy vinyl pops and thunderous subs interface with classic bossa nova piano vamps, raw saxophone swag and the hauntingly beautiful vocals of Astrud Gilberto. This is as much a tribute to the depth of Brazilian songwriting as it is to modern electronic developments in the wake of dubstep and Dilla. Set to be released free on www.AstroNautico.com on December 9.

Smooth Jamz: The Definitive Collection
OK GUYZ...
so if you've been paying attention to the blog for the past year or so, you'll know I've kept a very loose installment entitled "Smooth Jamz," where I post some mp3s or youtubes of some of my favorite songs which I consider to be "smooth jamz." I consider smooth jamzs to be a combination of several sub-genres, mostly stemming from 70s/80s AM pop, yacht rock, smooth r&b, and jazz/fusion.
I'm a huge fan of this music & therefore typically prone to buying lots of records that fall into the genre. I recently decided to scour my vinyl collection for some of the smoothest tracks I own and then compile them all into one epic collection, one which I feel fully reflects & encompasses the genre. I also tried to stray away from the popular stuff that some of you have already heard, so hopefully this will be an ear opening adventure for y'all.
I also personally love to sample this stuff in my own productions, so I fully support people sampling these songs & creating their own smooth jam beats - and if anyone wants to send me something you've created using samples from one or more of the tracks, I'll definitely post it up here on da blog.
So without further adieu, please download & enjoy "Smooth Jamz: The Definitive Collection."

Kuhn - New Remixes and Quiet Nights EP Forthcoming
Today my Spacemusik EP has been downloaded more than 1000 times since its release in March. Thanks to all who've tuned in and to my Astro Nautico brothers especially for pushing me to share my music on this blog.
To celebrate, I just posted up a trio of remixes all from the last couple weeks. They're
password protected bc I want them to be exclusive for you, the Astro Nautico community: pw is 'thankz'.
The story is that I've been passing around a tape that used to belong to my dad, seeing if any producers I personally admire want to cut it up. The tape had a recording of 'Corcovado' by Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto that had been dubbed from vinyl to cassette back in the day. Sort of a gem because of how much grit is on it (and
because the original song is so gorgeous).
Anyway, I had already sampled the tape for 'Quiet Nights' (on our Atlantics EP). Thought it would be cool to see what others would do with it. The result, months later, is that we have three new versions from each member of the in-house krew and several
radical (still secret) guestspots... Stay chuned!!!!!!
